My name is Moriah and I am a social work student at UNLV. This semester I was blessed enough to be chosen to intern with Club Christ. I have only been with them for a little over a month and I am simply amazed at the work this organization does to empower urban youth. I get the best of both worlds, as I get to work with the students at the Las Vegas Learning Center and the Henderson Learning Center. I have enjoyed learning about each student within the past few weeks. Each student shows a great desire to not only learn, but to become closer to God by participating in weekly Bible study.
During my first week at the Henderson Center, I was introduced to all of the students, who were all extremely polite and made me feel so welcome! When it was free time, a 5th grader named Darrell invited me to play Apples to Apples with him and a few other students. I am horrible at games, and it was clear that I was falling behind. Darrell noticed this, so he sat down next to me and helped guide me through the game so that I could win a card! I was so amazed by his kind personality and drive to help others.
I am honored to be interning alongside a great team at Club Christ that empowers, encourages, and strengthens the minds and spirituality of urban youth here in Las Vegas.
