Leading and Loving It
Last month, Angela and Jessica had an awesome opportunity to attend the Leading and Loving It Re:Treat! This event is specially designed with pastors' wives and women in ministry and leadership in mind. They had a blast and want to share what refreshed and renewed their souls with you!
This conference was AWESOME! There are two things that really stood out to me. First, working at Club Christ is not just my job, it is my calling. What I need to remember is that not about perfecting people, it’s about loving them. Like Mike Foster said, “People do not need heroes, they need equals. God saves the day, we just come alongside them.” We need to remember that every single person is made in God’s image and is deeply loved- that is who they are... And reminding them of this truth is the best way to help them!
I was so encouraged and refreshed by this conference! I laughed, I cried, I learned! The first big takeaway I had was the importance of remembering who I am. It is easy to label myself as “not enough” or “not worthy” or “unappreciated” but God does not call me that. In fact, some of my favorite labels He has for me are “dearly loved”, “holy”, “chosen”, “fearfully and wonderfully made”, and “a new creation”. That is my identity; it was powerful because I knew that deep down, but I needed to be reminded of it! The other point is that I need to refresh my soul by walking in step with Jesus every day; I don’t want to get too caught up DOING things for God that I forget to BE with God. Again, something I knew, but needed to hear! Finally, I also got to meet Jennie Lusko, who pastors Fresh Life Church in Montana with her husband Levi. I was SO excited, but also SO nervous because I think she is so wonderful (which she is). I’ll end with a challenge from her message: “Rise up and take the place He has designed for you.”
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
